We build on a properly compacted base with drainage planned in and edge restraints, and we do not cut corners on the parts you never see. Our process follows a clear sequence:

Site walkthrough and written quote. We visit your property, talk through how you want to use the space, and provide a detailed written estimate before any work begins.
Excavation to the correct depth. We dig out to the proper depth for the specific patio system you have chosen, rather than a one-size-fits-all trench.

Patio Details That Matter in Massachusetts

Base depth: industry guidance commonly calls for roughly four to six inches of compacted gravel base under a patio that only carries foot traffic, more on heavy clay or wet ground, set on undisturbed or compacted soil.
