ISA-Certified Arborist Serving Lynn & the North Shore

When you want an expert opinion on a tree before anyone starts cutting, you want an arborist. Our ISA-Certified Arborists assess tree health, diagnose problems, and recommend the right care, honestly.

What an Arborist Does

An arborist is a trained tree-care professional, not just someone with a chainsaw. At Zacarias Tree & Landscaping, our ISA-Certified Arborists are qualified to evaluate the health, structure, and safety of your trees and to recommend the right course of action, whether that is pruning, treatment, monitoring, or removal. The difference matters: a certified arborist is trained to save a tree where it makes sense and to recognize a genuine hazard before it becomes a problem.

Homeowners and property managers across Lynn and the North Shore call us when a tree looks unwell, leans the wrong way, drops limbs, or sits close enough to a home that its condition matters. Rather than guess, an arborist looks at the whole picture, species, age, root zone, canopy, soil, and site, and gives you a clear, informed answer. We are Licensed, Bonded & Fully Insured, TCIA-accredited, and family-run since 2002, with more than 85 years of combined experience in the field.

When to Call an Arborist

It is worth having an arborist look at a tree before a problem forces the decision for you. Consider a professional assessment if you notice:

  • Leaning or shifting. A new lean, heaving soil at the base, or a tree that has moved after a storm can signal root or stability problems.
  • Dead or hanging limbs. Bare branches, deadwood high in the canopy, or limbs hanging over a roof, driveway, or walkway.
  • Signs of disease or pests. Thinning leaves, discolored foliage out of season, fungus at the base, cracked bark, or cavities in the trunk.
  • Trees near structures or wires. Any large tree close enough to a house, garage, or power line that its condition affects your safety.
  • Before you build or landscape. A pre-project assessment helps you protect trees you want to keep and plan around ones you do not.

Catching these early often means a tree can be pruned or treated rather than removed, which is exactly the kind of judgment a certified arborist is trained to make.

Serving Lynn, the North Shore & Beyond

Zacarias Tree & Landscaping has been family-run since 2002, working throughout Lynn, the greater North Shore, and Essex & Middlesex Counties. Over more than two decades we have completed 1,500+ local jobs, so we know the mature oak and maple canopy, the coastal wind and salt exposure, and the tightly spaced older neighborhoods common across this area, all of which affect how a tree grows and what it needs.

Because storms move through the region hard and a compromised tree can turn dangerous quickly, we also offer 24/7 emergency response. Whether you need a one-time assessment or ongoing care, you get the same insured, credentialed crew. See everywhere we cover on our service area page.

Common Questions

Arborist FAQs

What is the difference between an arborist and a regular tree service?

An arborist is formally trained and, in our case, ISA-Certified, to understand tree biology, diagnose problems, and judge whether a tree can be saved or should be removed. A general tree service may only cut. Hiring a certified arborist means the recommendation you get is grounded in real arboriculture, not guesswork.

What does 'ISA-Certified Arborist' mean?

ISA stands for the International Society of Arboriculture. Certification means the arborist has passed formal training and testing in tree care, biology, diagnosis, and safe work practices, and keeps that credential current. It is a recognized standard of professional competence in the industry.

Do I need an arborist or can I just get a tree removed?

If you already know a tree must come down, we can move straight to a removal estimate. But if you are unsure whether a tree is dying, hazardous, or salvageable, an arborist assessment is worth it, because it often reveals that pruning or treatment will solve the problem without removing the tree.

Can an arborist help save a sick or damaged tree?

Often, yes. Many trees that look unwell can be recovered with the right pruning, treatment, or care plan. A certified arborist is trained to tell the difference between a tree that can be saved and one that has become a genuine hazard, and to recommend accordingly.

Do you provide arborist services for storm-damaged trees?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency response for storm-damaged and failing trees across Lynn and the North Shore. Call (781) 704-1096 and we will get a crew out to assess the situation and make it safe.

Is Zacarias a licensed and insured arborist company?

Yes. We are Licensed, Bonded & Fully Insured and TCIA-accredited, and our team includes ISA-Certified Arborists. Tree work is inherently risky, so working with an insured, credentialed company protects both your property and the people doing the work.
