Why the tree deserves a deliberate review

A Bradford pear tree should not be assigned urgency by species name alone. Review its branch structure, visible damage, recent changes, and nearby people or property, then use those observations to decide whether a professional assessment is warranted.

Inspect the branch structure

Bradford pears often develop several large upright stems from a tight central area. Included bark, narrow attachment angles, past storm damage, and heavy end growth can increase concern at unions. Look from the ground for:

  • Freshly exposed wood or hanging branches

Pruning cannot solve every structural problem
